About Image to PNG

Image to PNG converts JPG, WEBP, GIF, BMP and other formats into PNG using the Canvas API — lossless, and the right choice for screenshots, logos, or any image where transparency needs to be preserved.

Because PNG uses lossless compression, converting into it never introduces new compression artifacts, though converting from an already-lossy JPG won't recover detail that was lost during the original JPEG encoding.

When lossless matters more than file size

Screenshots with small text, UI design mockups, icons and logos with hard edges, and any image that needs a transparent background all suffer visibly from JPG's lossy compression — fine lines blur and flat color areas pick up dithering artifacts. PNG's lossless compression avoids all of that, which is why it's the default export format for design tools and screen-capture utilities, and why converting into it (rather than out of it) makes sense for this kind of content.

What conversion can and can't fix

Converting a JPG into PNG stops any further generational quality loss from re-compression, but it can't restore detail that the original JPEG encoding already discarded — a blurry JPG becomes a blurry PNG, just one that won't get any blurrier from here. Where this tool genuinely helps is converting from formats that are lossless or support transparency (like WEBP) into PNG for maximum compatibility with software that specifically expects a .png file.
